Here you will find details of the partnerships that the School of Advanced Study has made to help bring open access books to the humanities community.
Royal Historical Society (royalhistsoc.org)
In February 2016, the Institute of Historical Research and the Royal Historical Society entered an agreement to launch a new open access series which would provide open access publishing to early career scholars entirely free of charge and with an emphasis on manuscript development and quality.
New Historical Perspectives is open to early career scholars (within ten years of receipt of their doctoral degree), and to more senior scholars who are collaborating with early career scholars. Works in this series will be published by the Institute of Historical Research both in hard copy and as online Open Access publications. The RHS will provide an expert editorial board, mentoring, extensive editing and support for contributors to the series, ensuring high standards of peer-reviewed scholarship.
Early Career Researchers are welcome to submit proposals directly to New Historical Perspectives. The IHR and the Royal Historical Society commit to cover the cost of publication for the series and early career researchers publish for free, with no publication fees. Note that accepted submissions will undergo peer review and manuscript development in alignment with the editorial policies of the Royal Historical Society.
